Re: The apocalypse.......not one response......puzzling. I found your post interesting and not so much for your position but for the scenarios presented. I agree that all logic and rationalization would collapse in the event of a major event in the US. Not 3000 deaths but 100,000 will unleash "the beast within all of us". Surely the terrorists know this, so what could be their motivation? They must realize that their annihilation is an inevitable outcome. Conclusion...they don't care about the outcome other than to strike a blow and kill their perceived oppressor "the great satan". Blind rage ( as evidenced in strapping on a bomb and vapourizing oneself ) is the motivator. I have to conclude its, "I don't care what the outcome is I'm just going to get those b*astards no matter what". Your post, while I detest it and find it hugely upsetting, is important. That is the kind of summary discussion/illustration that needs to be effectively conveyed to the world by Pres. Bush (and not some 3rd tier underling). I wonder if the US were to detonate a large nuclear device somewhere in a barren spot in the eastern world ( not a Pacific atoll ) as an attention getter/warning if it would serve any purpose or make a bad situation worse? I'm afraid the world sees the present situation as very serious but not critical. 100,000 deaths will make it instantly critical. C
