I am a huge believer in music. We are quite clearly musical animals. Look at the amount of material we can remember in musical format! I have read research about why the sagas of all cultures are alliterative and repetitive- their musical nature were aids to the memory.

I always urge everyone I meet (who asks me, or who I can urge without looking pushy) to start their children in music. I am a firm believer in band instruments. I am a pianist, but you know, you can't take it with you. Much better to have something portable. My oldest plays the flute and has been in band for 3 years now and is loving it. My son has played the clarinet for two years, since he was 8. He will start band next year in 5th grade, and he can't wait. My youngest starts the clarinet (for her birthday, she is turning 8) next week.

Happy people sing and play music I think. Maybe unhappy people do too- but if you are carried away by music you won't be unhappy for long.

--classical guitarist --

yes... i love the melodic minor... but must admit to keeping the raised 6th and 7th even when going down....

as a matter of fact... i like the 5, 6, 6#, 7, 7#, and 1... any combination....

oh my favorite chord is the diminished off of the raised 6 with the minor 7th... like f#, a, c, and e in 'a minor'

so ethereal... another ethereal one is the c, e, g# augmented 3 triad in 'a minor.' that's the way i hear it anyway... so

2MAR$ is an astounding musician...
