Ibexx - Two competitors of note are Philips Medical Systems of Bothell, Washington, and Medtronics' Physio-Control subsidiary (or division or whatever they call it), Redmond, Washington. MDT's P-C was a reseller of some DFIB products last year. There are a couple more competitors out there as I recall from last year's Annual Report Form 10-K which identifies several (but I can't remember who they are). Go to www.sec.gov and search the Edgar database for DFIB and you should get this year's filings which will have a section on "Competition" which describes the market and names the larger competitors. Regarding other US Gov't opportunities: the Press Release quoted a couple of messages earlier (and also available by clicking on "News" somewhere on this page) includes a link to a site having several bills pending before Congress that would authorize some Federal agency purchases and also would provide funds to assist some state and local governmental units to acquire them (not necessarily DFIB exclusively - virtually all public contracts are by competitive bid). You could check the General Services Administration's website for other contracts currently out for bid (called RFPs which is short of Requests for Proposals). Go to www.gsa.gov and search for AED. Be sure to limit your search by date or you may get stuff going back eight years or so. [If this doesn't work, well, write your Congressperson. 8-) ] Finally, this month's (March's) AARP Bulletin has an article on AEDs. Alas, it didn't mention DFIB.
