re: safe returns....sure seems that way today. Mr. Edelman's mortgage advice seemed so dated (such as alluding to 8 percent mortgages while making 10 percent gains somewhere else) that I looked hard to see when he had written that piece.

Indeed the piece is old.....it's an excerpt from one of his books.

Mortgage rates haven't been 8 percent in quite a while, and he neglects to mention that while making 10 percent with other investments (if that were even possible right now), a person probably will be paying tax on the 10-percent gains, which makes an 8-percent paid-up loan look like a steal. Whatta guy.
