Cakebread happens to be one of my favorite vineyards too. Too bad they stopped shipping to retail channels sometime ago, now serving only restaurants and commercial establishment.

A few months ago when I visited the Napa, I made a special stop at Cakebread (the one by the highway with lots of flowers in the front). The small but elegant tasting room was full of people and every bottle of cabernet was sold out. I brought back 2 cases of Merlot instead.

PS: As to second-tier vendor: it depends on what your criteria are. Dinosauers are not my cup of tea. <g>

Cakebread?

Anyway, I think that anyone that goes up against Cisco in a market they already dominate, such as routers, will be at best in second place. But if the market turns around, there is money to made in second place.

Further, I think the marketplace will always want some alternative to Cisco, and will include JNPR as a vendor just to help keep CSCO pricing under some check. CSCO already has tremendous pricing power, and if JNPR folds then the vendors have no leverage.

I do not see all CSCO competition folding in the markets they dominate for the reason I stated. Vendors will support at least one competitor as long as it does not cost them too much in performance, service, reliability and scalability.
