After enduring two layoffs in four years, the Washington area native decided to forgo the hyper technology lifestyle, permanently turned off his cell phone and signed up as a coordinator for a camp devoted to strengthening troubled families. Now he spends most days on a peninsula, surrounded by 110 acres of greenery, a South Carolina lake, rambunctious children and, most of all, quiet.
