TAIPEI, March 5 Asia Pulse - The results of a survey released yesterday show that the number of Taiwan's information product manufacturers who are pessimistic about the island's economy has markedly decreased.
The survey, conducted by Taipei Computer Association and Digital Weekly magazine, found that the percentage of those who are pessimistic about Taiwan's economy in the coming year dropped to 26.5 per cent in late 2001 from 67.4 per cent in late 2000.

Meanwhile, the number of those who are optimistic about the mainland's economy dropped to 62.7 per cent in late 2001 from 80 per cent in late 2000.

But the survey also found that Taiwan businessmen investing in the mainland have moved from individuals to groups, so that the upper-, mid- and down-stream of the information industry is gradually emerging.
