Whether it is an explanation to your way of thinking, it may be a fact. There may be mysteries we are forced to live with. Is that so bad?

We have an account of earthquakes that seems to work, having to do with shifting tectonic plates. Why ever would the postulation of a spiritual cause involve giant Pixies or living in the sun? Those are superfluous attributes created to mock any kind of supernatural hypothesis. Until such time as there is a theory that seems to account for the matter, the spiritual hypothesis might be a viable alternative. And, of course, if there is nothing else that could account for a given phenomenon, or the overwhelming preponderance of evidence was on one side, then the existence of spiritual phenomena would be proven. On the other hand, if one refuses to accept the state of the case, and simply continues muttering "there must be a rational explanation", one has merely prejudged the outcome.

I posted some material on "Beanie Babies" from reputable sites about experiments with petitionary prayer in various venues. The results obtained in the several instances were sufficient that if we were talking about a drug, it would be considered at least partially validated. And, be it noted, none of the prayers was connected to the sick individuals, the prayers took names at random and prayed off the hospital premises. Of course, I was roundly attacked for suggesting that the items were interesting, because, unlike with a new drug on trial, many people do not have an open mind about petitionary prayer.......
