Also take a look at the divorce rate in your wealthy "Republican" suburbs, Doug. That's a large part of the school problem, too. Unstable families at the upper end of the income scale ... in addition to the out-of-wedlock problem at the lower end.

Fact is, for a lot of parents (and posters on this thread), it's a lot easier to blame the teachers (or the NEA) because they don't want to look in the mirror at their own parenting shortcomings.
