What's the difference? The guy who's been negligent can always say the he wasn't and he did his best, things just happened to go wrong. In my examples, the bad driver could say the road was icy, the doctor can say sometimes people just die, and the air traffic controller can say reading the sports helped him be more relaxed and effective on his job.

Just the same, the driver, especially a professional driver, should have known better about the road conditions and taken precautions, and people don't just die for what is an outpatient surgery, regardless of how much you believe God decides how long you live, and the air traffic controller had better prove that if he had not been reading the paper the planes would not have crashed.

Personally, nothing infuriates me more than incompetence and laziness. It should be outlawed.
