Pravin, Re: AMD Presentation

I was looking at this slide, and it contains a new AMD roadmap.

media.corporate-ir.net

It now has a M2200 Athlon scheduled for Q2 and a M2400 Athlon scheduled for Q3. Does this not represent a slip in the intended performance ramp?

This next slide is the mobile roadmap.

media.corporate-ir.net

The good news seems to be that AMD is planning to reach 1.6GHz (M1900+) next quarter with Thoroughbred. (I believe that Intel will have 1.8GHz at the time.) The ramp looks a little slow after that. Could this suggest that maybe the rumor of AMD canceling the Barton core is true? I had figured that the mobile Athlon could reach higher than M2400 (1.93GHz) by the end of its lifetime with SOI. Maybe this is just a little reality check, or maybe Barton really was canned.

Finally, there is this slide talking about multiprocessor Clawhammer and Sledgehammer.

media.corporate-ir.net

It seems that AMD is offering finer granularity, and things are coming out sooner than anticipated. Clawhammer production shipments in H2 2002 and Sledgehammer in Q1 2003.

In terms of other markets, AMD showed this interesting slide.

media.corporate-ir.net

It shows how they plan to position their Alchemy products. Other than that, I didn't see anything new or interesting with flash (but maybe others can find something better).

Pravin, Re: It's Microsoft, stupid!

LOL. I had to look up Microsoft to get the spelling of Redmond for the post!
