Albert, on Yahoo, GAAP numbers are used for the calculation of numbers like P/E ratios, etc.

As for accounting, let's ask Arthur Andersen if they hid some "QuantiSpeed" losses in offshore accounts ... ;-)

It really depends upon where you go on the web to see the numbers. For example, Yahoo Finance (quote.yahoo.com) calculates the P/E ratio of stocks using GAAP earnings.

Proforma results can "distort" the operations of a company, but I'm not implying that either AMD or Intel is using "proforma" to distort.
