"What seems odd to me is the fundamentalist Christians support Israel for what appears to me to be a sick reason. Isn't it their opinion that they want Israel to be destroyed so their Messiah will return?" Not quite the way it is but supposedly the temple has to be rebuilt so the the second coming of Christ can happen at the steps of the rebuilt temple. Any way you look at it the whole thing is borderline crazy as you might expect from Robertson and Falwell.
