Tony, Re: So because it's old news, it's not bad news?

Of course it's bad news. But do you think it would be productive to discuss the Hammer slip by one year (from Q4 '01 to Q4 '02) every time AMD has a presentation here? It's nothing new. We have products slipping all the time in this business.

As far as being old news I don't recall that there was a new roadmap showing the slip until today.

The "new" roadmap was first presented at the Banc of America conference in early Q1 (or maybe earlier but's that the first time when it was discussed on this thread).

exactly, expectations were lowered a while back. Recall the Itanium deal, does anyone care anymore that it was what 3,4,5 or 20 years late. Of course, it would be a crime not make fun of it but it is no longer a problem, at least, from the lateness point of view.
Currently intel has different problems with itanium:
1) lack of demand
2) upcoming competition from both intel itself and amd
3) possibly cost of production

Tony,

So because it's old news, it's not bad news? As far as being old news I don't recall that there was a new roadmap showing the slip until today. So, on paper, it's news.

We had a discussion about this slip just a few weeks ago (on Intel thread). How is it news now? It was news back when the "updated" roadmap was released.
