Interesting. How many weeks would you expect these * EXTRA * steps to take?

Ha, if you were trying to find out intel's throughput time, I saw right through that one. If not, it's a WAG, because I have no clue as to how much time AMD's Front End vs. Cu sections of the Process Currently takes.

Since building the transistors takes longer than laying the metal, let's assume for arguments sake, the faster industry standard 10 weeks through the Fab, not including packaging. about 2/3 for Front End (Fe = 6.6 weeks), 1/3 for Metal (Cu = 3.4 weeks).

If we're assuming that, then if 6 layers of Metal takes 3.4 weeks, then 3 additional layers should take an additional 1.7 weeks.

So I would WAG an additional 2 weeks to lay the additional 3 Metal Layers. Assuming the faster industry standard throughput of course.
