GB, Re: 200 good die per wafer for a 129 sq mm chip on a 200 mm wafer sounds like a pretty good yield to me. Do you think AMD is lying about their yields?

Where did you get that #(200 good die per wafer for a 129 sq mm chip on a 200mm wafer) from?

Gopher, re: "200 good die per wafer for a 129 sq mm chip on a 200 mm wafer sounds like a pretty good yield to me"

This is 200 candidate dies per wafer as this is all that will fit and not the number that work (yield) let alone that are marketable (bin split). AMD's slide (from BoA) says "GDPW" which must mean gross die per wafer.

You wish!

200 is the total number of whole die on a wafer. This is exactly the kind of confusion Jerry is counting on. Just like when they said the "line yield" is over 90%, hoping you guys would buy it as the die yield.
