Some random walks take longer to play out.

Some walks turn into stampedes. LTCM had very sophisticated models of variability by their Noble prize winning economists and look what happened to them.

Can't fight the Fed? Gold has all the time in the world to take its walk.

Or how about a chart of the fundamentals? Could a guy do something with that?

My grand prediction this year is that there will be surprises in store for market players that will catch them when they are least expecting it. The market will change direction more than once, and many people will lose money. Later in the year, a friend or relative will say something unkind and hurt your feelings. You may have budgetary problems at month's end. Mars will transit Uranus in the elevator on the way to work, while it may look like Venus, it will feel like Saturn for the worse. You may sell your Mercury. Pluto will be in the doghouse.

All in all it is a good year to invest in stocks that have not seen new highs in the past five years as it is their time to shine, everything else being equal.
