Ericsson urges operators to invest in networks 09:49 Wednesday March 6, 2002, Telecom.paper
Ericsson strategic head Torbjoern Nilsson thinks several European and US telecom operators have invested too little in their networks, and thus are risking they will not be able to upgrade to GPRS, according to an interview in Dagens Industri. Nilsson pointed out that many operators' networks are currently overloaded. He claims the operators are focusing on their balance sheets instead on investments. He named the US operators Cingular, one of Ericsson's customers, as one of the bad examples. He believes it is going to be difficult to upgrade the company's network for GPRS. Nilsson urged operators to put a great effort in working on the quality of their network services.
