There was a time when Pepsi bragged they where as good as Coke_and_Cola, if no clues were given under the hood, until the new generation came around.

Ilmarinen

There was also a time when only some potato-pale-heads bought Pepsi, mostly in the back-yard or field.

Interesting branding history...connecting or not.

there was also a time when americans told the japanese how to achieve Q-uality, interesting stuff.

Slacker,

<< P800....this is one cool handset. If they can price it right, it is going to give Nokia some serious competition. Looking forward to seeing what Nokia has to answer this.... >>

The P800 is obviously the result of "Project Linnea".

It is indeed "cool", and very leading edge feature wise.

... maybe too leading edge.

I am candidly a bit leery of SonyEricsson's capability to get an OS 7.0 device shipped Q3, and I wonder how quickly that they can ramp production.

Closest thing I can think of competitively would be an 'i' version (OS 6.1) of the 9210 adding GPRS & MMS.

... but then again Nokia's "Hilden" (OS 7 - I suspect, but maybe 6.1 - Communicator) is coming and although it may not make initial shipments this year it will probably be ramped faster than the P800 and the enterprise software will be more mature.

I would say that "Stinger" has its work cut out for it.

re: Nokia 8390 v. T68 at AWS

As far as I am concerned, with both phones retailing at $199, the T68 blows the doors off the 8390.

T68 is color display, Bluetooth, and tri-mode. Reviews on the T58 UI have been good if not excellent.

Carriers offering next-generation wireless services have begun expanding handset choices as more advanced mobile phones become available. Today, AT&T Wireless begins offering the Nokia 8390 as well as the Sony Ericsson T68 for customers signing up for its next-gen services.

Besides GSM/GPRS capability for high-speed data transmission, the Nokia 8390 includes voice dialing, phone book, calendar, stopwatch and support for e-mail, text and photo messaging. The 2.9-ounce phone provides up to 4 hours of talk time and 16 days of standby time. Nokia's 8390 will retail for $199.99. Sony Ericsson's T68 is the first GPRS handset in the United States to feature a color screen and Bluetooth capabilities. The tri-mode phone also will retail for $199.99.

AT&T Wireless also begins offering GPRS customers new voice plans to choose from in buckets of 60, 500 and 900 minutes ranging from $19.99 per month to $59.99 per month. Long distance and roaming fees as well as wireless data are not included in the plans, according to AT&T Wireless. <<
