But if that gives you the impression that all press releases are suspect No that they are all suspect, they are on sided. They only based on positive aspect of the product covered, not negative. Suppose Company A announces their project to port their software package to Itanium, which is accompanied by a press release from the Company A, but a few months later Company A reconsiders and cancels the project. Is there going to be a press release? You can bet that there will not be one. Like there was no press release of Dell Workstation based on Itanium being canceled. If you go by press releases, Dell is selling Itanium workstations, and Company A is either still working or has their software package converted to Itanium.Every once in a while, someone is bound to reconsider, but that is the exception, not the rule. What evidence do you have for this statement? There will be no press release when someone reconsiders. And I think it's especially ironic that you choose to be skeptical all the Itanium press releases from reliable news sources like Reuters and news.com I just gave you reason why I am skeptical, and it has nothing to do with Reuters or news.com (It is really PR newswire or business wire who deal with press releases, Reuters and news.com just regurgitates them).and yet you believe Yamhill rumors from the Inquirer. For the record, it was The Register. The article has an interview with with Jim Carlson, who is actually HP's director of marketing for IA-64. Do you not believe that the article is based on a true interview conducted by the Register. Do you think they completely faked this whole interview? Don't you think that by now we would hear from this Jim Carlson guy if the Register completely made it up? Joe
