>> BTC Mobility of Bermuda Selects Nokia to Deliver Full GSM Network

March 6, 2002
Nokia PR

Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and BTC Mobility, one of Bermuda's leading mobile operators, have signed an agreement to build Bermuda's most advanced wireless GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) network. The agreement includes core- and radio-access network equipment such as switching equipment, base stations, and base station controllers, as well as radio transmission, network management and GPRS packet-data solutions.

The implementation of the GSM network, which includes GPRS and EDGE-ready capabilities, will position BTC Mobility, which has recently been granted a cellular network license, to offer state-of-the-art voice and data products and services with global reach, and personal and business solutions that are uniquely designed to meet customers' demands.

``We are very pleased to partner with Nokia, knowing that we will have a first-class infrastructure made by the world leader in mobile communications,'' said Stanley G. Wright, BTC Mobility General Manager. ``BTC Mobility plans to develop complete business solutions that encompass application components that enable businesses to take advantage of opportunities to improve efficiency through wireless solutions.''

``Nokia looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with BTC Mobility in helping them build Bermuda's most advanced mobile network,'' said Steve Ballard, director of business development for Nokia Networks, North America. ``This cooperation further demonstrates Nokia's commitment to providing complete GSM systems with both GPRS and EDGE capabilities and its goal of providing all carriers with a direct and cost-effective path to next-generation technologies while allowing for spectral efficiencies.''
