Ted, <I would expect the layoffs to enhance productivity, not hurt it. Why do you say that?>

Let me clarify. After the layoffs, productivity may return to normal. However, it should take quite a while for top brass to decide who stays and who goes. Lots of political battles, lots of cronyism. This could possibly last a couple of years, and that will seriously demoralize the workforce.

Tenchusatsu, its certainly possible......it would fit into comb's view on how the merger will go. But it doesn't have to be that way. It just depends on how well its planned out and how much HWP's corp. culture wants to screw with it.

It is possible to go in there and cleans things out very quickly and then start moving forward. Fiorina is capable of that I think but she needs the cooperation of the troops. Will she get it? I don't know......she's a woman in a man's biz..............not the best of scenarios.
