WashingtonDC(AP)-- The special counsel Robert Ray gave his final report on the Lewinsky affair Wednesday, estimating that there existed enough evidence to be able to pursue the former president, Bill Clinton, for perjury and obstruction of justice. On January 19th, 2001, at the end of his presidential term, Mr. Clinton admitted for the first time having made false statements in the Monica Lewinsky affair, and concluded an arrangement with Mr. Ray, successor to Kenneth Starr, to avoid legal proceedings after his departure from the White House. The former American president's camp did not seem to excited by the report of the independent prosecutor. Mr. Clinon's principal lawyer, David Kendall, made his position known in a short communique:" The inquiry about President Clinton between 1994 and 2001 was intense, costly, partisan, and long. There is nothing in the report about Whitewater, and nothing new in this report. It is time to move forward." (My translation, interrupted by phone calls)......
