John, RE: Are you basing your opinion on potential retaliatory measures by other nations or simply on the steel itself?? Primarily the steel itself, although as you note, tariffs have other additional costs. The US is a net importer of steel and all this does is help one of our most inefficient industries when they should be getting their act together. And all for the loyalty of a few battleground states this fall (Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio, primarily). GWB painted himself as a free trade advocate, but this move shows the hypocrisy of that stance.
