the countdown would have to begin again from there.
If it had been a good buy signal, however, Wednesday would have triggered the sell signal, as it was volume significantly higher than previous three days. Using the V+1 method (with V equaling the post-buy signal high volume day), one would have picked a point (usually within the first half-hour of trading) to try for a maximal exit.
In the good old days, which now seem old indeed, I would probably have turned a deaf ear to any cat's mewlings, if it suffered a regap like that: A clue that the stock may have an ongoing penchant for multiplying misery.
