TGPTNDR, I agree with you 100% on this one. The only question will be whether those multiples of x86-64 based machines are really running 64-bit applications, or not.

To me, the bigger question is if the machines will be running 64bit OS. If that's the case, all the apps that are not native code will be running in 64bit mode (Java, .Net). Not that all the apps need it, but it will be there.

So the OS (especiall Windows 64 is critical, and compiled apps are secondary. (I know one cannot go without the other), but Hammer can be a success as a 64 bit CPU with just Windows (and Linux OS present).
