Not a chance. Banias may be able to match or even exceed P4's performance, but it won't be able to match P4's clock speed. Since Intel is selling MHz, they will still need P4 in three years regardless of the performance of Banias.

Dan, one problem. Banias doesn't include an on-die memory controller. At least not that I know of.

As for Hammer vs. Banias, not a chance. Hammer can never compete with the advantages Banias will have. Yet on the other hand, AMD is making a major push into high-end servers and workstations where I doubt Banias will exist.
