Total pureness in any concept only breeds trouble. Market forces are not entirely without intervention. Foreign govts. has a tendency to meddle with market forces. We can't always be patiently argueing what they should do, while they take advantage of the situation. If the steel companies don't get their act together (I don't think they can), they won't get another chance.
You are also right on how much the President get involved in these things. But like Chrysler, Long Term Investment, and City of New York, you have to do some extra-ordinary things.
Hopefully the costs of all GWB initiatives won't bury us under.
