Isn't this just another example of the predatory behavior but from the opposite spectrum?

There are lots of predators. Some prey on the young, others on the old, weak, gullible, etc. Predatory behavior that causes loss of life or property is mostly illegal. Some is governed by regulation for prevention purposes. Society and the law treat children and adults differently, for good reason, I think. We have a special responsibility to our children.

There are some protections for seniors. If they can't make decisions for themselves, there are ways to establish guardianship or otherwise limit their ability to do damage to themselves. It's a difficult thing for both the senior and his family to deal with the increasing dependency of oldsters. It's one thing being dependent when you're a kid. Losing one's adult independence is brutal. Still, the cost of the blonde predator to the ninety year old, is much less than the pedophile to a nine year old. Scarred for life isn't quite the same thing when you're ninety.
