"Scarred for life"

Well, this phrase is being bandied about rather freely. I have reviewed the various scenarios here and am only becoming more confused about what could actually be considered the consensus opinion.

IMO there are two situations that qualify: 1) A person who is under the age of sexual maturity but who's life has been irreparably directed on a course that will have a major impact on their adult sexual behavior. 2) A person who's sexuality has been violated against their will.

It is true that sex with a 15/16 year old even, though consenting, violates our laws of statutory rape. I support laws that force the 15/16 year old to "wait" until they are more prepared educationally and economically for adult responsibility. However, it is also likely that this consenting person has established their sexual orientation and would not alter their outlook on adult sexuality by such an event. I would, therefore exclude them from the "scarred" category. Likewise, with the geezer being seduced by barbie. Most people consider the adolescent boy who is seduced by an older woman to be fairly free of the serious risk factors related to pregnancy. I don't condone this behavior but find it hard to see scarring unless the naivete of the boy resulted in paternal responsibility.

The most difficult dilemma our modern society finds itself in, is the conflict related to sexualizing prepubescent children. They commonly display a tendency toward aberrant sexual behavior as adults. Our schizophrenic culture now condones this for them as adults, so it is becoming nearly impossible to mitigate any causal circumstances.
