While you're contemplating, contemplate this question.

Does JLA really want to resolve this issue?

Or does he just want to boost his ego by being the big dealmaker who want forced everybody into accepting his deal on his terms.

There are lots of lawyers like that. I know them. I deal with them regularly. If you put solution D on the table, even if it's a great deal for their client, they can't accept it because it isn't their proposal. Being seen as winning is everything to them, even when it costs their clients in the long run. I think it's sad, but it's out there. Looks to me as though JLA is in that mode, at least here and now. He can't accept my proposal, even though it would solve the whole problem, because it isn't his proposal. No other reason. That's what I'm seeing right now.
