Sun Micro Sticks to Forecast

PALO ALTO, Calif. (Reuters) - Network computer maker Sun Microsystems Inc.'s chief financial officer said on Thursday that he still expected revenue in the company's current fiscal third-quarter to rise from the previous quarter but that orders could run behind schedule.

"There is no change from what we said earlier," Chief Financial Officer Mike Lehman told analysts in a mid-quarter conference call.

He said that Sun still expected to make progress toward its goal of returning to profit in its fiscal fourth quarter but that order "linearity" was slightly behind the previous quarter.

"The risk is more so that the orders come in too late in the quarter to be turned around and revenue recognized," he told the analysts.

Sun had forecast in January that it would improve results in the March quarter on the 3-cent-per-share loss and $3.1 billion revenue it reported in its fiscal second-quarter.
