I think Dan Niles has been better than most analysts. At least he doesn't seem to be so much just a pimp for the Wall Street brokerage whore houses.

I think the semis have jolted up to the higher end of their range. The economic woes are subsiding but a robust upturn in semis will remain muted by a continued downturn in the telecommunications equipment sector and slowness in other areas such as test and measurement and consumer PCs. Corporate spending will probably rebound but it will be a more difficult climate for IT spending for several years. Without high growth rates it's difficult to justify high multiples.

Meanwhile, there are several attractive areas of the economy outside of the darling tech sectors that so many love to death. The "real economy" is recovering. I'm a EE and techie but think tech stock investing won't be easy street for the short term.
