Well, latency is probably more important than bandwidth. Unfortunately, Rambus tech. doesn't really address this issue...

Well, it is a bottleneck to some extend, but it is being addressed by number of different ways.
- large on-chip caches - going to 512K on mainstream processors
- prefetching
- moving memory controller on CPU die to reduce latency
- dual channel chipsets
