Yes, I've read that, and things like it. How do I know whether they're right or the NAS scientists are right? I don't and neither do you or Michael M.

But you laugh at the idea that the planet needs forests.

I think it's probably too late to do anything. At least that's my suspicion. But I don't know that, either.

This worries me. If there is only a 1% chance of this, it worries me. Ten percent, it worries me a lot.

We have affected the biochemistry of the earth and we have done it in less than a century. If a qualitative climate change were to occur suddenly in the coming century - within less than 10 years - as has happened many times before in geological history, we may already have written our epitaph.
