Weird way of putting it. Hitler invaded Russia, not vice versa. It's not like Stalin had a choice about fighting back.

Pearly has already documented how hard the Russians fought, and how many German soldiers they killed, so I won't repeat. But I'd have to say that it's likely that without a two front war, the outcome would have been different, or taken much longer. Germany was the second largest economy at the time, and totally geared towards making war. They fought until they exhausted every resource, especially on the Eastern front. They were justifiably scared of payback from the Russians, and they got it, in spades.

So no, we did not "use Stalin against Hitler."
