Ibexx, over at Yahoo they are talking about Juniper pre announcing that their not going to make the Q. What does your gut feeling tell you whether they will make the Q or not?

Ibexx, You make a false assumption in regards my motives. As an aside, it is not the downgrade that is the issue for me, but that this was the first analyst to 'break ranks' from following the company guidance. I think any investor should be apprised of this, and your insinuation regarding my motives are both misplaced and unwarranted. Further, the fact that the stock has not 'reacted' to a particular news item which is as yet unsubstantiated does not mean the contents of that news item have been proven irrelevant. The current 'animal spirits' in the market prevent it from properly absorbing the potential consequence of this report, IMHO.

Additionally, before I posted this information I did a background check on the analyst in question. This analyst has a high level of technical training and may well appreciate the subtleties of the various network architectures, protocols, and equipment manufacturers. In the past two years his commentary has been spot-on regarding the sector, and notably he had been a JNPR bull in the past. Prior to changing his estimate a few days ago, he was in the same range as the current analyst community consensus and company prior guidance. I looked at his prior analyses, and he has not in the past issued reports that were factually erroneous. Since his estimate is ostensibly based on assumptions of lower capex purchases from key customers of JNPR, it is certainly within the realm of possibility that he has used contacts within the industry to obtain more information than is currently widely known.

We'll know in about a month or so if he was connecting the dots correctly regarding JNPR's sales this Q. OTOH, I would recommend you go back and read some of his earlier comments regarding the sector and the various players involved.

Good luck.
