If the fate of Apple Computer, VisiCalc, Lotus, Ashton-Tate and Netscape are any guide...

If you 'own' the OS, of anything that reaches a mobile site along your way, being it PDAs, laptops etc. (which I call MP. Short for M obile P araphernalia) you dominate the market. And NOK read MSFT book. They want to dominate the OS for MP.

Terminals? Terminals will be dominated by the likes, of NEC, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Samsung. And this downed on me in OCT. 1999 at Geneva Telecom.

There inside a glass showcase -those you see in Fifth Ave. in NY with diamonds and jewellery- were beautiful 'bricks' of acrylic. They hold displays of all types.

They hanged some on the wall and gave you a magnifier glass to look at a map display. Nice stuff. And they were all Japanese companies.

But lets go back to the OS. When I implement project we have always to upgrade our PCs because our customers -mobile operators- have upgraded. You know how it works.

We send them stuff and they complain a table is shown but can't print, or the colours aren't there and that's because our software is older than theirs.

This game is going to be played also with the OS of all MP. So I will sent you my picture with a cool beer in the swimmingpool here under +30C while you freeze your butt up there. But you reply you've got only rubbish or a message saying you can't read the file.

Then you tell me you have upgraded your MP for OS x.z and I should do the same with mine. I may download the upgrade for USD11.99 if I have ALL my paraphernalia upgraded to OS x.z. but if NOT, and they know that I have a couple of MP due some cookie tracing me, they will say it is going to cost USD29.99.

Then I upgrade the whole MP for OS x.z and you can see my damn picture on your MP. And who has that OS x.z dominates the market.

Now who knows how to do this kind of thing? MSFT knows. NOK wants to, but I think they not very likely succeed.
