"Wrongo. PIII 900 MHz with 2 MB cache is still commanding up to $3000 per."

I can imagine that. With 300++ mm die size and
140M transistors, the yield must be 1-2 dies per
wafer in a good sunny day ;-)

Re: PIII 900 MHz with 2 MB cache is still commanding up to $3000 per

Did it ever occur to you that sales of these might not be as good now that customers are considering them instead of $600 2.2GHZ Xeons when they were once considering them as alternatives to $600 1GHZ Xeons?

Do you think there is any chance that the advent of 2.2GHZ $600 Xeons has impacted the sales of $2,000 700mhz Xeons?
