Cax,

<< T and Cingular won't deploy any GPRS in markets where they have capacity problems. >>

In the case of AWS, I'll believe that when AWS - most certainly not SuperPatriot Seybold's Screwy Stooge or some other alien FUDmeister - tells us that they only have x% of their POPs covered at year end rather than 100%.

Right now AWS is saying they will ACCELERATE the buildout of GSM/GPRS in key TeleCorp cities and ADD TDMA capacity in TeleCorp cities.

The Stooge is saying the opposite.

Cingular?

Who knows.

I haven't heard anything lately and they are on an entirely different timetable than AWS, having started almost 1 year later, but last I knew they were adding TDMA capacity where they needed to in order to clear sufficient spectrum for GSM. Cingular of course not only is not as spectrum rich as AWS across both frequency bands, but also has lots of AMPS to get rid of which will free some spectrum for both GSM & TDMA in more rural areas.
