It's alleged she got rather more than just platonic consolation from some Scottish groom... this may have been partly why she liked visiting Balmoral so much, and also why she backed the re-introduction of plaid (which had been basically dropped completely from every wardrobe). There was a girly film about it a few years ago, which I avoided seeing. I suspect something happened (since she clearly liked bedsports) but that it wasn't very exciting, which would seem to fit...
