i thought so cal was doing well while no cal was still cold. here in no va, defense jobs have picked up while telecom/net is dead. it seems that so far government has picked up the slack, and industries tied to consumer lending have done well. greenspan's actions appear to be targeted toward rescuing the 15 percent or so of the economy that's tech. as with anything government does, such as tax credits, spending programs, etc., it misses the mark and rewards or punishes far more than the intended target. i don't see a lot of "for sale" signs driving thru no va, but most seem to be already under contract or sold.

Last weekend in Parade Magazine they said that only 39% of those unemployed even qualify for unemployment. So, it really seems like the unemployment number is a poor indicator of unemployment. Not counting somebody doesn't increase their buying power; it actually lowers it.

I think the economy is doing a dead-cat bounce, thanks to AG running the pumps. It will become clear soon enough, methinks.
