OK. My understanding is that most of them are on straight commission. THAT can make anyone quite nervous anytime.

Couple of years ago, I spent a morning on floor of the NYSE with the trading boss of a major and asked him where he got the best traders. He said the company used to go after top grads from the best schools but found the best traders were simply street-smart guys with b*lls of steel who could pull the trigger right now.

Allow me to re-recommend "Liar's Poker" by Michael Lewis. Bit of an "Animal House" tone.
