As I said, I don't short (instead, I move heavily into cash, which I did yesterday to 64% from 28% or so ealier in the day), but if one believes that the sector has reached an extreme (as indicated for instance by the fact that 99% of the sector has moved above their 10 DMA, an unprecedented percentage, which I don't think can be "bettered"), and decides on shorting as a strategy, then one choses those stocks that have not made new recovery highs, and use stop losses just above the last high, in the case of MU that would be just above $40, a risk of less than 5%.
