<Qualcomm is one of the poorest marketing companies>

Just exactly what is it that you think they should do in marketing? Seems to me that their customers would be the SPs. Don't you think the SPs understand what technology they are using ( except for ATT, of course, who did not seem to know the WCDMA is CDMA) and ARPUs?

Should they be standing at the phone kiosks talking to the customers? Within a ten mile radius of there are at least 20 and probably twice that many counting all the little mom and pops in the strip malls. The only busy ones are the VZ store (line of customers waiting even with three or four reps working) and the phone display at Best Buy. There had only been Best Buy employees there but the last week or so, there are two SP reps, ATT and Sprint. They do not seem to be very aggressive but the Sprint rep will talk to you, not sure the ATT one wants to talk, he seems to hang in the corner by himself most of the time. The Sprint rep has not heard of 1x, GPS or Brew but did seem to know the phones on display. I liked his explanation for the lack of Nokia phones on the Sprint network, "Nokia makes junky phones that do not work well", which sounds about right.

There is a good link on the mod thread to a CSFB conference with presentations by officers in the various SPs. Well worth listening to Sprint, Nextel, Nortel and several others. They seem to be well aware of CDMA and according to statements by QCOM, there had been a tech team in Europe with their WCDMA phones doing tests several months ago with any vendors that wanted too, seems all but Nokia were interested.

It is well known that QCOM will invest in CDMA SPs and the Brew team seems to have been all over the world. You may want to attend this BREW 2002 Developers Conference

I think they are doing a good job putting the word out, not sure why they would want some snake oil salesmen.
