The operative word was "should", not MUST.

I was thinking of the Saudi plan for peace and the apparent coolness of the Israelis towards that plan. (At this time, I don't know the details of the plan but I would guess the plan is somewhat similar to that of Ehud Barak.) And yet......

Also, Binyamin Begin (spelling???), when he was the Israeli leader, had done some Bible thumping in his attempt to convince his neighbors of the legitimacy of the Israelis' claims to certain territories. It would now appear that claims based on Biblical writings are to be considered as "suspect" and therefore any intransigence on Israel's part may be gratuitous.

It is true that Palestinians had been targeting innocent civilians. But, of late, they have changed tactics. Mind you, Israeli forces are not entirely guiltless where slaughter of Palestinian civilians is concerned. Unintended consequences????

I am inclined to the view that had Israel been located elsewhere, the present conflicts and mayhem would not have occurred. Simply because Israel has to be where it is now,
(and this was done initially with the complicity of the big powers) the world is now forced to "tolerate" a number of unpleasant consequences. Is this really fair? Maybe the entire ME region should be dehumanized, eh? Maybe a couple of megaton nukes would do the trick! Oh, how heartless of me! <ggg>
