I checked all the website, and besides an ETA date on Compaq's website, Dell, IBM, and Toshiba seem ready to ship immediately. You seem to be assuming that Intel has trouble getting the CPUs to the OEMs. Maybe the problem is that the OEMs are not ready with their designs, given that Intel has been so early in executing to their roadmaps. These are not desktop CPUs here - a significant portion of time needs to be spent designing the laptop enclosure, and with the higher power dissipation of the Pentium 4-M (relative to other mobile processors), a lot of engineering no doubt went into the laptop design.
