Thanks for the tax info all. My problem was I bought a bunch of blue chips in 2000 and sold them in 2001. What a pain resolving trades from one year to the next.

What I'd really like is a brokerage firm that tracks your cost basis in each position for you. Does Fido do that? It seems like it should be pretty easy to do with an online broker.

I tend to accumulate positions a little bit at a time and then sell a little bit at a time as the picture changes, so I make it harder on myself come tax time. -g-
