Alientech... at the most fundamental level, people are people, with the same hopes and desires to give their families better lives than they had.

I firmly believe that.

But there are some folks out there who other ambitions, such as domination over others. Some want to kill for the sake of killing, claiming anyonw who doesn't think the same way they do deserve to die.

I have several muslim friends, several of which are from Afghanistan. They are all US citizens and have little sympathy for either the extremists or the Taliban and Al Quaida. And they are all appalled at the attack on the WTC, and I heard nothing from them to suggest that it wasn't the work of Arab extremists. They believe that muslim extremists did it. And they also believe that this is primarily a war between religious zealots and moderates for the hearts of the muslim world.

I personally believe that a major focus of the "propaganda" war must be to convince muslims that this war is being fought on their behalf, not against them. That we are dedicated towards giving them opportunity and hope, not to crush their religion.

But they have to make the decision as to what side they want to fight for. They have to decide what kind of future they want, especially given the relative lack of raw material (other than oil) available to them to build solid economies.

And we have to make them aware that they have that choice, but that we're not going to force them to come to that realization (except through their eventual defeat should they fight on the side of the extremists).

AT,

They all seemed very shaken I had such a negative opinion of these people. Its not easy to shake a life time of opinions you have developed and 'you think you see even now' and I am not running to them as my new best friend. But I do start to question why I feel the way I do when personal experiences and experiences of people I would trust say otherwise

I have no idea what you are talking about...
