I would call that doing one's best. E, I have stayed clear of this issue in large part because I find it a complicated one--too complicated and with too many unknowns to be really clear about taking a stand. There are lots of themes at play here. Some posters put more priority on one and others settle on another. Early on the Moderated BR, Marie made the point that the creation of that thread reminded her of the alpha girls we had been discussing. I had that reaction as well and it took me a couple of days to work through the various factors and be comfortable enough to start posting there. Apparently X had a similar reaction. I think it reasonable here to appreciate the complexity of the issue and recognize that different people will see different priorities amongst that complexity. This is not black and white. And everyone is trying to do his or her best to deal with it as they see it. Karen
